This unit helps students understand the importance of perspective-taking and how to use perspective-taking as a tool to avoid and manage conflict. We explore perspective-taking through discussion prompts, activities, and scenarios, which will encourage students to apply these concepts to their everyday lives. Students will work within the metaphor of perspectacles, perspective-taking eyeglasses, that allow us to see situations from other people’s points of view. Students will learn that there are many ways to understand a situation, and that’s okay. Perspective-taking allows us to empathize, effectively communicate, and have compassion for others.
